80's Birthday Bash

My sister Teniel had the fantastic idea of throwing an 80's theme party for my mom's upcoming Birthday.  I think my mom's heyday was in the 70's before she had us three children, but we remember her in the leg warmers and spandex so we had to take her back to that time.  Speaking of time, we are super short on it!  Her  Birthday is tomorrow and we're having the party this Sunday.  We just started planning  last Wednesday so I've been scrambling and searching for ideas for the decor like crazy.

I was looking for some streamers I could make myself and found this fabulous site ohhappyday.com.  She has so many amazing D.I.Y. and party ideas.  The picture below is from her site and you can find the super easy tutorial on how to make the zig zag accordian streamers here.

We wanted to display pictures of our mom in 80's duds, but couldn't find any so I had the idea of creating some.  I went to faceinhole.com and put her face in some killer pictures.  The one below is just an example of the awesomeness she will experience when she walks into the party.

I also found another great idea from marthastewart.com.  I have some kiwi green lanterns from Ronan's Godzilla/Sharktopus party and plan on using them as vases around the room with some bright pink flowers.

We want to have an area for pictures with props so everyone can sign a page in the guest book and add their picture from the party for my mom to keep.  The rest is still in the works, thankfully I work best under pressure.
